Wilfred was graduated from St. Louis school and was employed at the Atlantic Rayon company before entering the service. He was in the service for two and a half years. He received his training at camps in Texas and at Camp Blanding, Fla., before going overseas early in February. Wilfred received the Bronze Star for meritorious achievements in service from 9 July 1944 to 10 October 1944. As a squad leader in the mortar section of his regiment Sergeant Bourassa has performed in outstanding manner as to merit recognition. Fully demonstrating his fitness as an aggressive leader, Sergeant Bourassa has on numerous occasions placed himself in dangerous areas necessary to placing accurate and devastating fire upon the enemy. His infinite courage, leadership and the regard for the welfare of his men have been an inspiring example to his comrades. His brother Frank was killed in a motor accident in Reims, France on 29 June 1945 and is buried at the Normandy American Cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer, France. |
