| Other information: |
I was leading Red Flight coming out on deck. Lt Norman was flying to the left and slightly in front of me. We ran into light flak. I saw Lt Norman´s plane pull up and cross in front of me. The plane was on fire. We then crossed out enemy coast under heavy fire. I looked over just in time to see Lt Norman´s plane crash into the water and disintegrate. Statement from Charles H. Bergmann, Jr., Captain, Air Corps. |
